LTS is designed for preschool and kindergarten classes and is delivered via teacher-professional development seminars. Students engage with and manipulate materials, which allows them to dialogue about their experiences using increasingly complex language. LTS gives children access to the processes of scientific change while stimulating language and literacy skills.
Science should be hands-on, catalyze curiosity, demand verbal reasoning, create excitement, and, most importantly, offer exceptional teaching moments. During LTS, teachers and instructors model Academic Business English and help build competencies that allow for advancement in the language necessary for school and academia. Exploring and explaining scientific experiences creates opportunities for predictions to be made and results in a deeper understanding of cause-effect relationships. This happens when students recall and talk about changes in materials they observed or caused.
